LAMINATED GLASS

Lamine Cam laminated glass

Laminated glass is a type of glass in which interlayer layers are placed between two or more glass sheets. These intermediate layers form a whole by gluing the glass layers together. Laminated glass is known as a type of safety glass because it holds the pieces together and prevents them from shattering when broken.

Laminated glass is a type of glass used to increase the safety of people and property. Unlike regular glass, laminated glass maintains its integrity with interlayer layers that keep the pieces together when broken. This feature reduces the risk of injury and provides additional protection in cases such as theft, vandalism or natural disasters. In addition, laminated glass reduces the harmful effects of sunlight and UV rays, prevents color fading indoors, provides high sound insulation and blocks outside noise. With these features, laminated glass is a preferred safety glass in many different applications, from building windows to security rooms.

Laminated glass production requires a special processing process. The steps are as follows:

  • Preparation of glass sheets: Glass sheets are cut to a certain thickness and size, cleaned and their edges are ground.
  • Preparation of interlayer sheets: Interlayer sheets are usually made of polyvinyl butyral (PVB) material. These layers provide adhesion between glass layers.
  • Joining glass and interlayer layers: Glass and PVB layers are joined using a special laminating machine. Make sure there are no air bubbles.
  • Pressing and heating: After the glass and PVB layers are combined, pressing and heating are applied to remove air bubbles and strengthen the bonding of the layers.
  • Applying pressure: The autoclave applies pressure to strengthen the bond between the glass and interlayer layers. This pressure maintains a certain temperature level and removes air bubbles during the laminating process. The functions of the autoclave include increasing the strength of the glass, controlling temperature, and removing air bubbles.
